The Learning Journey
- Strengths and areas for improvements are identified
- Commitment from your tutor, providing you with the training and support you need.
- It is lively, interactive and fun! Some of the work involves using ICT and the internet.
- You will work towards a national qualification in Literacy and/or Numeracy, the equivalent to a GCSE.
Who can do it
There is full Skills Funding Agency or ESF funding available, no matter what previous qualifications you may already have. There’s no upper age limit, although you must be aged 19+ (see eligibility Requirements)
Skills for Life Qualifications
Have you ever wondered what 6 x 8 is or what 25% off in a sale actually means?
Have you ever struggled to understand what a leaflet is trying to tell you or where the comma goes in a sentence?
Don’t worry..
Lots of people have trouble with their Maths and English, but it is part of your everyday life!
From working out the interest on your credit card, to writing a CV with no spelling mistakes, improving your Maths and English skills can really change your life!
SFL qualifications include Adult Literacy, Language (ESOL) and Numeracy. We currently offer free Adult Literacy and Numeracy for all adults over the age of 19 years old.
Your learning experience
- Before you start your learning with us, your Skills for Life tutor will find out your strengths and weaknesses and will work with you to create an Individual Learning Plan.
- All training is outside of your working hours and you will work with your committed tutor on a one-to-one basis.
- Learning is free, fun and flexible and some of the work involves using the internet!
- Once you are ready, there is a final end test on the computer, with 40 multiple choice questions.
